School Days During the Great Depression During the Great Depression there were many things that affected
the children going to school. There were no buses so the children had to walk to school. If they couldn’t walk they wouldn’t go to school. The second thing that affected the children was the stock markets crashed and people lost all their money! The kids had to buy their own books and since they didn’t have money. They didn’t buy their schoolbooks. Then the people started saving money. They bought schoolbooks with some of that money. Finally, the New Deal came out which let the children learn English. That is how the Great Depression affected children going to school. By: Paige Langhals (Grade 4)
